From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A bride and groom whose wedding photos were ruined are now travelling around the world to recreate moments from their special day.
Ché and Warren Dyer, from Mitcham, south-west London, got married in 2013 in their former home South Africa.
However, the newlyweds sadly lost almost all of the pictures from their big day after the photographer’s dog scratched the disc containing the snaps.
Despite sending the hard drives to two data retrieval companies, they were deemed “unsalvageable.”
While the couple were understandably devastated, they tried to remain positive and Ché even joked about wearing her wedding dress to an upcoming festival.
But, what was only meant to be a bit of fun quickly spiralled into “a mission to have the world’s most well-travelled, well-photographed wedding dress,” she wrote on her blog.
In July 2014, the couple wore their wedding outfits to Tomorrowland festival in Belgium and were inundated by party goers asking to be part of their bridal party and wishing them a happy marriage.
After having so much fun, they decided to keep doing it with the hopes of creating the wedding album they never received.
So far, the happy couple have taken snaps in 11 different locations including the French Alps, Australia, Bali, Goa and Paris.
Documenting their travels online, the pair have even created an Instagram page dedicated to sharing their pictures with the rest of the world called The Wedding Dress Adventures.
Here, they can be spotted posing in their outfits from the big day in front of some of the world’s most famous landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, Northern Lights, Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triumph.
While Ché previously wrote about sad she was that she “would never have the huge, happy, family wedding portrait to put on our mantle-piece”, or “the heartfelt shot walking down the aisle with my dad”, thankfully now she has new memories, in new places to hang on her walls at home.
