From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chrissy Teigen has shut down a follower who commented on her appearance and called her “unrecognisable”.
On Monday, the model shared her skincare routine alongside an Instagram video where she showed off her colourful eyeliner.
“For you kind folks asking me to drop the skincare regimen, I will admit I am def proud of my skin lately and feeling myself!” Teigen captioned the video.
In response to the clip, one of Teigen’s followers said she didn’t recognise 34-year-old’s “face” and hypothesised whether she “dropped 50lbs overnight or has cancer”.
“Ok… this isn't her or some app that changed her face. I had to look back and forth like four times...either she dropped 50lbs overnight or has cancer… this isn't right," the commenter wrote.
Teigen responded to the comment in a joking manner, writing: “What would you prefer?”
Teigen’s response prompted the original commenter to apologise for the lack of “tactfulness” - before doubling down on their comments.
“Apologies for the lack of tactfulness… should have thought ahead,” they responded. “But, why did I have to go back and forth three to four times to make sure it was you?
“Is it an app? It’s not about skincare, but bone structure is completely different… you’re unrecognisable.”
In response, Teigen reminded the follower that she doesn’t know her in real life and doesn’t “owe you anything”.
“Why are you carrying on with this??” Teigen wrote. “Why do you think I owe you anything especially after what you’ve said? You know you don’t actually know me in real life, right? Thank god.”
Teigen’s response was met with approval in the comments, where hundreds of her followers praised her for her response.
“You’re legitimately my hero,” one person wrote.
As for the skincare products she uses, Teigen revealed in the caption of the clip that she “kind of uses whatever is closest” but that her routine consists of iS Clinical’s cleanser and face lotion, Control Corrective SPF 30, La Mer’s Creme de la Mer and Concentrate - which she acknowledged is costly - a “steady stream of Biore chin and nose strips,” and Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads.
“Mix that with anything anyone at @drjasondiamond’s office tells me to do facial wise and @simonourianmd1’s Firm and Fade Cream when I’m feeling icks, and there you have it. A very simple (no) routine!” Teigen wrote. “But really. The IS clinical cleanser and the lotion is the only thing I use consistently and they’ve always been so good to me. Can find online - everything else just a bonus.”
