Chrissy Teigen is being praised for her response to an Instagram comment that criticised her for employing hired help in her household.

On Friday, the cookbook author and TV host shared a photo of her and John Legend’s two children Luna and Miles posing with the family’s household staff to Instagram.

Teigen captioned the photo: “Grateful for people that make our dysfunctional house functional.”

In response to the picture, one person attempted to shame the model for having hired household help.

“Aka ‘Thankful for my household staff of chefs and nannies,’” they wrote.

The comment prompted Teigen, who regularly shuts down trolling on social media, to sarcastically write back: “Literally just said that but you sure got me.”

Teigen’s fans also came to her defence, with one person writing: “We all would if we could afford it. She’s thankful. If you had kids and a family you would know ‘it takes a village’ is a legit thing.”

Another said: “Don’t worry about the jealous trolls. You absolutely have the right to exercise all options life affords you without apology. Glad you’ve found a great team.”

This is not the first time Teigen has opened up about having staff to help with parenting. In 2016, she explained that she was considering hiring a night nurse before the birth of Luna.

After the announcement sparked criticism, Teigen explained to her Twitter followers: “A night nurse doesn’t replace you waking and feeding at night. You’re up with them. They’re helpers and teachers.”

In October, Teigen elaborated on the family’s team of help, explaining to Vanity Fair that they employ “daytime help, nighttime and weekend”.

“I hate pretending that we do it on our own,” Teigen said, adding: “I don’t know how my mom did it.”
