Chris Pratt has announced his engagement to author Katherine Schwarzenegger after seven months of dating.

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor took to Instagram to share the exciting news on Monday morning.

“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go! 💍🙏♥️,” he captioned a photograph of himself hugging his bride-to-be, who showed off her engagement ring.

The actor also posted about the engagement on Twitter, revealing to his 6.6 million followers that the couple had hoped to keep the “secret” for as long as possible.

The news comes days after the 39-year-old actor, who was previously married to actor Anna Faris, was spotted helping the 29-year-old move out of her home in Santa Monica, California, on Friday.

Schwarzenegger is the eldest daughter of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver.

Pratt and Schwarzenegger first sparked romance rumours on Father’s Day in 2018, when they were spotted enjoying a picnic in the park in Santa Barbara, California.

In December, the actor confirmed his relationship with the I Just Graduated . . . Now What? author on Instagram.

To celebrate the star’s 29th birthday, Pratt shared several snaps of his then-girlfriend.

“Happy Birthday Chief! Your smile lights up the room. I've cherished our time together. Thrilled God put you in my life. Thankful for the laughs, kisses, talks, hikes, love and care,” he captioned the post.

In August 2017, Pratt and Faris announced their separation on social media after eight years of marriage. They have a six-year-old son Jack together.
