The Wicker Man, Pictureville Bradford (01274 732277)

According to your point of view, this is either one of the most disturbing horror films ever made or an astonishing pile of old tosh. Put it this way, on its first release, it was the support feature for the truly terrifying Don't Look Now. I, of course, wouldn't dream of prejudicing you either way so just let me point out that the script is by Anthony Sleuth Shaffer, brother of the more famous Peter, and the cast list runs to Christopher Lee and Ingrid Pitt. Question: Did she have an exclusive Horror Only contract? Fans (they are legion, I swear) will remember Britt Ekland writhing naked against a door to woo strait-laced policeman Edward Woodward, not to the scene where Woodward snoops about the local village shop on this remote Scottish isle only to discover a jar of foreskins. They don't make 'em like that any more. David Benedict
