Five companies in the Baby and Child section of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) were honored with Best New Product Awards on August 17.

The home accessories and gifts trade show New York International Gift Fair, taking place August 13-18, played host to the Best New Product Award s in the Baby and Child section, singling out natural materials and playful characteristics.

The winning items were selected from 119 products in the Baby and Child section at the latest NYIGF, held twice yearly, by a panel of experts from the trade media and child-centric websites. Products were chosen for the categories of Toy, Décor, Gear and Apparel with one additional product winning the overall Bloggers' Best award.

In a statement, sales manager of the Baby and Child division Randi Mohr noted that the winning products were chosen for "... their superlative design characteristics, quality and aesthetic appeal."

The five recipients of the Best New Product Awards in the Baby and Child division of the NYIGF were:

Manny and Simon
(USA) - awarded for their range of eco-friendly, wooden, toy vehicles made from 100 percent post-industrial recycled wood residuals. http://www.mannyandsimon.com/

Kidzaw
(USA) - awarded for The Starry Night artist's kit which encourages children to learn about art and attempt to recreate Van Gogh's painting.   http://kidzaw.com/

Décor
3 Sprouts
(Canada) - a range of cardboard storage boxes with reinforced sides featuring drawings of animals. http://3sprouts.com

Gear
Finn + Emma
(USA) - the winning Stroller Sac   features a floral pattern and wooden snaps, the device doubles as a sleep sac. http://www.finnandemma.com

Apparel
Magnificent Baby
(USA) - awarded for a 100 percent cotton cardigan with magnetic fasteners designed to allow parents to dress their child with ease. http://www.magnificentbaby.com

Next month the latest in children's clothes, toys and accessories will be showcased at the Top Drawer trade show next held September 11-13 at the Olympia in London.
