Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

That Jerry Sadowitz is a talented chappie. He's attracted a refined following for his Channel 5 show, The People vs Jerry Sadowitz, where masochists of any description indulge in the ritual humiliation of a chat with Jerry and see how long they can last before they get "binged" - but that's only the half of it. He's also one of the best magicians in the business. Find out if his wrists are as fast as his tongue and catch him on tour from 16 June. Just don't volunteer for anything.

Someone in the office done you wrong? Get your own back by making a pornographic website pop up on their screen every time the boss walks by. No special technical knowledge necessary - this is just one of the many spells you can conjure with Voodoo Lou's Office Voodoo Kit which has adapted the voodoo doll-principle to the requirements of the hell that is the modern office. The stuffed doll with both a male and female side comes complete with pins and a book of spells. We've already tried the Bright Lamp spell - it's supposed to wangle you a business trip somewhere nice and warm. It's not worked yet but if there's no 'Real Life' next week...

Voodoo Lou's Office Voodoo Kit, Running Press, pounds 8.99 (tel: 0171 722 4114).

The last time Browns of South Molton Street, London, gave over a whole window to a fledgling designer was in 1994, for Hussein Chalayan. Ten years before that it was an honour bestowed on John Galliano. So when Mrs Burstein, co-owner of Browns, casts her eagle eye on a recent graduate you know they're going to be pretty big. This time it's the turn of Polish- born Arkadius Weremezuk whose work is "sculptural and about experimenting with silhouette and colour" and will be on display for one week only, from tomorrow. His is obviously going to be the next hot label to own. Meg Mathews must be circling already...

Watchthis

If you spot a fashion-conscious type kicking themselves on Friday morning, the chances are it's because they missed the first part of Channel 4's Slave. Presented by Chris "clever by name, clever by nature" Cleverly (pictured left), this show will scour the world in its mission to keep style cats completely up-to-the-minute - so up-to-the-minute, in fact, that it's filmed only hours before broadcast. The first show looks to weathergirls for inspiration (it's going to be a long, hot fashion summer) as well as the latest "must-haves" from shopping to clubbing. Turn on, tune in and don't drop off.

'Slave' is broadcast at 11.30pm on Thursday nights, Channel 4.

Use this

We really don't need to know - although we've always suspected as much - that the average single lad wears his sport kit a nose-shrivelling five times before washing it: some even admit to going three months without putting their gear in the machine. Phooeee, boys! If you're an offender, take heart - Sainsbury's has responded with a new washing powder. Novon Active contains a "unique odour-neutralising agent" which works on your clothes while they're languishing in your gym bag, wiping out the pong. Use it until you can get to your mother's house and be very, very ashamed.

Available in Sainsbury's stores. Powder pounds 2.19 (1.35kg), Liquid pounds 3.19 (1.5l).
