From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Ahead of the biggest fashion event of the year, the comedian shared an Instagram post of herself dressed in leggings, a grey T-shirt and a beige cardigan standing on the steps of the Met surrounded by photographers.
“Met look this year,” Schumer captioned the photos, which have seen been liked more than 131,000 times. “Last night on the way to the hospital.”
“Iconic,” one person wrote.
Another commented: “The best Met Gala outfit ever.”
The 37-year-old followed up the post with a photo of her and her husband Chris Fischer holding their newborn baby, where she wrote: “10:55pm last night. Our royal baby was born” - a reference to the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child Monday.
The birth of Schumer’s first child comes days after she joked about the length of her pregnancy, captioning an Instagram photo on Friday: “Oh yeah does it feel to everyone like I’ve been pregnant for a long time?
“It must be getting annoying to you all that I’m still pregnant. Well imagine how I feel motherf***ers.”
The Met Gala is underway in New York City, where celebrities, A-listers, and designers are embracing this year’s theme Camp: Notes on Fashion.
Schumer, who attended the event in 2016, previously compared it to “punishment” during an interview with Howard Stern.
