The Trump presidency has been the most controversial, chaotic and lampooned US administration in living memory. From Russia to North Korea, siblings to porn stars, Covid to impeachment – twice – the 45th president of the most powerful country in the world has generated more headlines, social media arguments and cartoons than any other.
But, Wednesday marks the end of the Trump presidency and the end of an era. Whatever happens during the Biden administration, it is unlikely to prove as contentious or provide such fertile material for cartoonists.
In the last four years The Independent’s Dave Brown has been at the forefront of those chronicling the most exceptional time in US politics. Below are a selection of his very best, telling the story of President Trump’s astonishing and unlikely election win in 2016 through to his very predictable response to losing in 2020.
