Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

England 2015 have announced the full schedule and ticket pricing for the showcase tournament which will see the hosts play away from Twickenham for the first time since 2009.
The host kick-off the tournament at Twickenham Stadium on Friday September 18 when they take on the Oceania 1 qualifier, which is likely to be Fiji as long as they beat the Cook Islands in the final round of qualifying.
They will then play their next two matches at the same venue, with the two crunch games against Wales and Australia going a long way to deciding England’s fate in the tournament. The Welsh will arrive at HQ on Saturday September 26, while the match against the Wallabies will take place a week later.
However, their final group match will take place at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, which will represent the first time England have played in the country away from Twickenham since their 36-11 victory over Argentina in February 2009.
Should Stuart Lancaster’s side progress to the quarter-finals, they will return to Twickenham to face one of South Africa, Samoa or Scotland unless the Asia 1 or America 2 qualifiers can pull off a major upset.
A semi-final appearance will certainly be at the home of English rugby as Twickenham hosts both semi-finals on the weekend of October 24/25, before the showpiece match as the final takes place a week later on Saturday October 31.
