The Programme, week 5: Trainer's comments on Simon
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Neil Price: Last week was tough for Simon. He was looking forward to having more time to devote to his exercise this week, also having joined a gym.
Unfortunately, Simon was called away on business and has been away for most of this week, but he still managed a 40-minute run last weekend and was able to squeeze in some exercise whilst away.
Simon?s bodyfat has dropped again and the run will have helped to keep his body working hard. Keeping to a routine even just once per week is enough to maintain his achievements in the short term.
Simon has been given a weights programme to follow in the gym after The Programme has finished. We will increase the intensity of Simon's running sessions for next week by increasing his hard intervals. Simon will continue with the same gym programme as last week, but this time he will aim for 2-3 sets of each exercise and monitor his rest so that he only has a strict 30 seconds recovery.
