6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary art

The Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art is the only major exhibition to exclusively showcase contemporary art hailing from Asia, the Pacific and Australia. The Triennial has been running since 1993 and boasted an attendance of over 700,000 visitors in 2006. The exhibition will feature more than 100 works from artists hailing from more than 25 countries located in the Asia Pacific region.

Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games

Nine countries, 3,500 athletes and a record 22 events for the fifth edition of the event, which is held every four years. It's Hong Kong's first go at hosting an international multi-sport event and while they'll be competing against athletes from Japan, Macau, North and South Korea, Mongolia, Guam and Taiwan, the Chinese delegation, led by hurdler Liu Xiang, will grab all the attention.

Paris Nautical Show

Europe's third-biggest boat show will showcase the latest models in the nautical world. More than a quarter of a million visitors are expected to attend, as are 1,200 exhibitors representing 1,400 brands. Nearly 1,500 boats will be on display, including close to 300 new models.

Equestrian: Salon du Cheval

The internationally respected annual Salon du Cheval incorporates the International Vaulting Masters on December 4 and 5, horse and cart racing in The Paris'Cup Driving Competition on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6, the GUCCI Masters and the Rolex IJRC Top 10 showjumping championships December 10-13, and of course the multi-disciplinary Grand Prix Magazine Track throughout the duration of the Salon.

Design at Work Fair

Previously running as a satellite to the prestigious Interieur Design biennale in Kortrijk in Flanders (Belgium), the Design at Work fair event takes place in its own right for the first time this year. Highlights include a presentation by Ji Lee, creative director of Google.com, forums, lectures and workshops in a specially built agora podium, a selection of the best designs, and Urban Office, a creative and flexible 12-meter-high office tower demonstrating new ways of working.

Kennedy Center Honors Gala

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will be celebrating American honorees for its annual Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime achievement in the performing arts, including rock singer Bruce Springsteen, actor Robert De Niro, jazz pianist Dave Brubeck, comedian Mel Brooks and opera singer Grace Bumbry.
