On December 10, Nobel Prize laureates in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Economics are being honored during an award ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Sweden, and the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony takes place in the Oslo City Hall, Norway, with this year's laureate, US President Barack Obama. The next day, a Nobel Peace Prize concert is scheduled in Oslo, Norway, hosted by American actor Will Smith.

Olafur Eliasson retrospective

Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art has sourced Olafur Eliasson artworks from galleries across the world to produce this major Olafur Eliasson exhibition. The show encompasses the Danish-Icelandic artist's career from 1993 to present and includes a number of large-scale installations, sculptures and photographs. Viewers will be able to walk through spectacular kaleidoscope-like installations and light-filled environments that embody the shifting lines between the artificial and the organic.

Powerboating: Class 1 World Powerboat Championship, Dubai

The sixth and final event in the Word Powerboat Championship series that started in April concludes by roaring across Dubai's tranquil coastline. Terra Madre Day

The first worldwide Terra Madre Day, December 10, 2009 celebrates the Slow Food movement's 20th anniversary since signing the Manifesto in Paris, which started the international association. Small gatherings and large events will focus on locally produced food, from seed collection in Uganda to a Potluck Party with organic ingredients in Seattle, a rally in Bangladesh against fast and toxic food, and a ritual at church in Mexico.
