Conan O'Brien's television show hits the road
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Comedian Conan O'Brien, the ex-host of America's Tonight show, who was recently embroiled in a controversial juggling of time slots on NBC television with Jay Leno, announced on his Twitter account that he will headline a two-month, 30-city North American tour.
In keeping with his signature cheeky style, the tour is titled "Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television," referring to a clause in his exit contract that prevents him from appearing on TV until September.
O'Brien will perform with sidekick Andy Richter and the former Tonight Show Band with Max Weinberg, who has also been a drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E. Street Band.
The poster for the tour was originally created by Los Angeles artist Mike Mitchell as a way to show support of O'Brien during NBC's attempt to change the performer's time slot. With the statement, "I'm with Conan," the image became a viral sensation online among pro-Conan groups. The producer contacted the artist to acquire it for the tour.
Due to high-demand, extra shows have been added to the comedy concerts in New York's Radio City Music Hall, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, BC, and Los Angeles. He will also perform at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 11.
The tour kicks off April 12 in Eugene, Oregon and includes dates across the US and Canada ending in Atlanta, Georgia on June 14. It promises "a night of music, comedy, hugging, and the occasional awkward silence."
Tickets are $39.50 and available through his website: http://teamcoco.com
