As the entire planet gets ready to meet in Shanghai for the 2010 World Expo between May 1 and October 31, the pearl of the Orient is in the spotlight. Among other vents scheduled in the next months are the Shanghai Formula One Grand Prix, a major film festival and the ShContemporary Art Fair for international contemporary art galleries.

Formula One: Chinese Grand Prix
April 18

This year's hopefuls in the driver and manufacturer championships will head to Shanghai for the fourth race in the 2010 Formula One calendar.

World Expo 2010

May 1 - October 31

Seventy million visitors are expected to flock to Shanghai for the World Expo, featuring exhibits from countries around the world. Highlighting the best of participating nations, from transport solutions to sporting excellence, the 200 pavilions have been designed in all manner of shapes and sizes.

4th Asia Luxury Travel Market

June 14-17

Asia's biggest luxury travel market attracted over 200 exhibitors for the third edition of ATLM, which is the sister event to International Luxury Travel Market held annually in Cannes, France. Among the resorts and organizations featured in 2009 in Shanghai were Pangu 7 Star Hotel (Beijing), Tahiti Tourism and The Ritz-Carlton Hotels group and Europe's Conde Nast Johansens.

Shanghai International Film Festival
June 12-20 

For its 13th edition, SIFF is expected to feature around 300 films at 25 cinemas, including the Shanghai Film Art Centre. The judging panel and the competition for their main prize - the Jin Jue (Golden Goblet), haven't been announced yet.

ShContemporary and Shanghai Art Fair
September 8-12

Those two events are Shanghai's two major art fairs. Shanghai Art Fair - China's largest - started in 1997 and is leading in scale amid major art fairs in Asia, while ShContemporary - The Asia Pacific Contemporary Art Fair- grows bigger every year with more and more interest from international art galleries. Launched in 2007, ShContemporary attracted over 30,000 visitors and more than 500 registered collectors from Europe, North America, China and the rest of Asia in 2009.
