Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

For those feeling blue after days spent relaxing on holiday in loose, lightweight clothes a new mail order range called Toast could be just the tonic. Toast features luxurious pyjamas, robes and blankets that really will encourage the most ferocious party animals to stay at home and simply lounge in bliss. The range has been produced by husband and wife team James and Jessica Seaton, who also design the knitwear ranges J&J Seaton and Seaton, currently available in designer boutiques from London to Barnsley.

Each item, from the classic masculine pj's to the bed throws are made exclusively from natural fabrics, and piece dyed to get the perfect colour tone with matching threads. Jessica Seaton says the range is the perfect antidote to fast living. "It's organic modernity, not hard-edged or glossy, " she says. "Just what everyone needs at the moment." Indeed these clothes would look perfectly at home on the pages of Elle Decoration or Wallpaper*.

The Seatons, who are based in Llanfynydd in Wales, have been working on the range for 18 months and the first catalogues were sent out only last week. Items on offer include waffle, flannel, linen, pintuck indian cotton, and plain cotton pyjamas in gorgeous colours including lime, indigo, hyacinth, burnt orange and natural. All are of the same design, fastening to the right and featuring a button fly and drawstring waist so they can be worn during the day too. In fact, they are far too lovely to save for bed. "I change into mine as soon as I get home from work, says Seaton, "especially if I have been in London for the day." They certainly look like the ultimate in comfort dressing, and with silk robes, super soft chenille dressing gowns, and pure wool throws with chunky stitching making up the rest of the collection, I know what I will be wearing around the house as the winter draws in
