Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Shame on us Brits. A new study has revealed that we're bottom of the league when it comes to participating in outdoor activities with our kids. We're Europe's laziest parents.

Time to make some quick amends, then – which is why I bring news of an action-packed "family bonding weekend" conjured up by Fish and Pips (01483 421777; www.fishandpips.co.uk). In the Alpine resort of Méribel, you and your kids get to know each other a little better while parapointing (jumping off mountains with nothing but a parachute on your back) and canyoning (sliding down ravines in a wet suit).

Eurocamp (0844 406 0456; www.eurocamp.co.uk) is introducing "adventure camping", in conjunction with specialists PGL. Pitch up in Brittany or the Dordogne and you'll be able to book all sorts of adrenalin-pumping activities, including trapeze jumping and zip wiring.

How about a cycling holiday? Suffolk specialist Go Camping (01379 678711; www.gocampinguk.co.uk) is offering a family adventure, taking in an 88-mile coastal route. Go on, you might enjoy yourself!
