Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The former Middlesbrough manager, who is currently the FA's head of elite development, was part of a delegation the governing body sent to Brazil last week to scout out training base camps for the 2014 World Cup finals.
Southgate, right, has made a big impression at the FA since his appointment to his current role in January 2011. The FA advertised the technical director post, to be based at its new football centre at St George's Park, near Burton upon Trent, last week. But, Southgate, who is also an ITV pundit, is first choice.
The former Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez believes that a top-flight club will soon appoint a woman coach. Speaking in a BBC documentary, Sexism in Football, Sanchez said: "There will be a female Premier League manager within 10 years because, whatever is said, we're in an entertainment business.
"Whether it's because she's the best person or it's because of the commercial aspect, the reason will be that it is the best situation for the club."
