Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Ed Sheeran chose Independent Woman by Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears opted for Prince’s Kiss and United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-Moon nominated Signed Sealed and Delivered by Stevie Wonder.

They were amongst the famous names given the surprisingly tricky task of choosing just one feel-good song to contribute to the UN’s “world’s happiest playlist.”

The celebrity playlist, created by MixRadio and available for free on the website www.happysoundslike.com, was designed to spread cheer among listeners and raise awareness of the International Day of Happiness in March.

Now we want to hear from you – what is your happiest song? Perhaps there is a special track that holds joyful memories for you, or one that you just can’t help singing along to at the top of your voice. We all know what Ban Ki-Moon is dancing around his living room to...

Whatever it is, however embarrassing, we want to know.

To nominate a song visit the Happy List hub's forum here and simply let us know the artist and title.
