From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In an effort to ease gamers' January blues, Sony is offering discounts on a long list of games on the PlayStation Store.

The titles on offer range from older classics to some of the latest releases - last year's psychedelic shooter Geometry Wars 3 has gone from £14 to £5, while Assassin's Creed Syndicate, the latest in the famous series, has been cut from £55 to £30.

There's also a few entertaining indie games on offer - Super Meat Boy is down to £8, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is £5, and Flower, a weird game that lets you play through the dreams of city-dwelling house plants, can be snapped up for only £2.50.

Other highlights include the Old Hunters DLC for 2015's Bloodborne and the 'Ultimate Evil Edition' of Diablo 3, both of which have got significant discounts. Overall, there's 50 games on offer.

If you got a PS4 for Christmas, now could be a good time to get some excellent games while they're cheap.
