Jackbox Party Pack 2; Assassin's Creed Syndicate; Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, gaming reviews

Jackbox Party Pack 2
****
Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mac (£24.99)
Gone are the days of tangled wire controllers, now simply use your smartphone to join in these punchy party games. The best of the five games are Fibbage 2 and Quiplash XL; in the former you must tell convincing lies to get your friends to pick them as the true answer, and in the latter simply come up with the wittiest names and explanations. It's perhaps missing one more strong option, as these are both revamps from the original title – but this is a great party game (best played with 4-6 people) that'll guarantee plenty of laughs.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate
***
PS4, Xbox One, PC (£40)
Assassin's Creed Syndicate takes the odd arching story of the series and puts you down in steam-punk London as it would have been in Assassin's Creed's timeline – a city ready for revolution. It has cameos from London's famous historical faces and feels the same as the games usually do, just with an industrial setting – that's not a bad thing. It's cool that you do missions with Charles Darwin and Karl Marx, but the game is still just about fine.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
*****
PS4 (£39.99)
As the gaming world awaits Uncharted 4 for what promises to be the final chapter of this Indiana Jones-esque adventure, the other three games have been given a once over and re-released in one collection. The series' action set-pieces shine better than ever thanks to their enhancement with current-gen visuals. The first is by far the weakest, with a less satisfying story and some awkward shooting, but Naughty Dog's progression with the second and third games is stark. These two sparkle with amazing dialogue and cut-scenes and look and play better than ever before.
