From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Between 23-25 April, the song will be available as part of the rapper’s in-game experience, titled “Astronomical”.
“An other-worldly experience like nothing you’ve ever seen is coming 23-25 April,” the announcement on Instagram reads.
“Fortnite and Travis Scott Present: Astronomical. A one of a kind musical journey featuring @travisscott and the world premiere of a brand new track.”
Scott released his latest album, ASTROWORLD, to critical raves in 2018. Last year, he shared new single “Highest in the Room” and his Cactus Jack project, JACKBOYS.
He was scheduled to perform at festivals over summer including Coachella and Rolling Loud, but was forced to postpone due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A review of ASTROWORLD in The Independent said: “The record progresses – in every sense of the word – [Scott] allows himself to become more vulnerable, more considerate.
“And all the while Scott owns an energy that is so ambitious and forward-gazing that Astroworld feels as though it’s from the future, rather than the present. As ‘Carousel’ notes, Travis Scott is a new species of artist altogether.
