From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Following rumours gathering pace over the last few days, EA has confirmed that players that pre-order Medal of Honor Warfighter Limited Edition will receive access to an exclusive beta for Battlefield 4; confirming the existence of the follow-up to last year’s hugely successful shooter for the first time.

‘Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment,’ said Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels.

The exclusive BF4 beta will be available in Fall 2013 with additional details regarding the game set to be revealed ‘at a later date’. No platform details and no confirmation of whether we’re talking Frostbite 2.0 (as powers both BF3 and Warfighter) or something more… what exactly are we to take from that?

One thing is certain, if players buy their Xbox 360 or PS3 version of Warfighter solely for BF4 beta access, only to find out they’ll need a brand new console to play it, there’s going to be fireworks.

Developed by Danger Close Games, Medal of Honor Warfighter will be available in the UK on 26 October 2012 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC; our preview can be found here.
