From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 takes the crown for a fourth consecutive week, becoming only the third title this year to accomplish the feat (the other two games FIFA 12 and, surprisingly, FIFA 13).

Elsewhere, Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 performed well again on the back of positive reviews to hold second spot, while retailer promotions propelled Just Dance 4 up the chart from sixth to fourth with a 54% leap in sales week-on-week.

Nintendo’s Wii U meanwhile is still to see any of its bespoke titles make a dent on the top ten (with Nintendo Land dropping 15 places to 26th and New Super Mario Bros. U falling 22 places to 36th), while the company’s debutant 3DS game, Paper Mario: Sticker Star was only able to make is presence felt at 40th.
