It has emerged that the singer’s mother, Maggie Baird, has voiced characters in games from the popular Saints Row and Mass Effect series.
Baird is an experienced actor, voice artist, musician and screenwriter, who has appeared in projects including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Friends, and Six Feet Under.
But many people had no idea she was related to the Grammy-winning popstar, until it was tweeted by Guild Wars 2 composer Maclaine Diemer.
“Look, I really like Billie Eilish and I’m not afraid to admit it”, he wrote.
“But will I admit that I like her *more* now that I found out her mom was the voice of Samara the justicar in Mass Effect 2 and 3? Maybe…”
The replies underneath are filled with commenters expressing their surprise. In the hit sci-fi games Mass Effect 2 and 3, Samara is a potential team-mate whom the player can choose to start a romantic relationship with.
The talent in the family doesn’t stop there; Finneas O’Connell, Eilish’s brother, is a successful musician and producer who frequently collaborates with his sister behind the scenes.
