F1 Singapore GP LIVE: Qualifying schedule, times and results as Carlos Sainz crashes
F1 live updates from the Marina Bay Street Circuit as Norris targets pole with Leclerc and Verstappen in contention
F1 heads to the original ‘night race’ as the Marina Bay Street Circuit hosts the Singapore Grand Prix and round 18 of the 2024 season.
McLaren’s Oscar Piastri won an enthralling Azerbaijan Grand Prix last time out, with the McLaren star producing one of the drives of the year to beat Charles Leclerc, with George Russell taking third after a late crash between Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez.
Lando Norris, despite starting 15th, finished a spot ahead of Max Verstappen in fourth to cut the Dutchman’s lead in the world championship to 59 points with seven races - and three sprint races - remaining.
It was, however, a difficult weekend for Lewis Hamilton, who finished ninth after starting from the pit-lane. Last year in Singapore, Sainz claimed a famous victory for Ferrari in what was the only 2023 race not won by a Red Bull car.

F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Q3 UPDATE!
Session will resume at 3:07pm (BST).
Can they squeeze in two laps or will it be just one?
8:04 left. A reminder: it’s just Piastri and Hulkenberg who have set a lap.
F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Verstappen on team radio
Verstappen: “Why did my lap time get deleted? I crossed before the red flag!”
Engineer: “We’re looking into that Max.”
Interesting. If there were double yellow flags, it would get deleted. Replays show Verstappen did lift off at that final turn, though, so he should be fine regarding penalties.
Sainz’s Ferrari is slowly being removed from the wall!
F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Verstappen’s lap time deleted!
Big news! Max Verstappen’s time has been deleted!
Did he go through yellow flags in completing his lap? Not sure at this stage.
Anyhow, it means Piastri is P1 and Hulkenberg in P2 as the only drivers to have set legal times!
And everyone else will only have one lap in reality to claim pole!
F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Sainz crash!
What an odd incident - Sainz was actually starting his lap and lost it, perhaps due to dirty air from Piastri’s McLaren!
Sainz is fine - and his Ferrari has a damaged rear-wing and tyres but is not too badly damaged!
F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: RED FLAG!
Carlos Sainz has crashed at the final turn!
The Ferrari looks OK.
RED FLAG! 8:04 left.
Max Verstappen gets over the line before the red flag to go P1, with Piastri second.
Lando Norris was on a flier but his lap time won’t count!

F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Daniel Ricciardo after being knocked out in Q1..
“Yesterday was good. We didn’t change much overnight. I was not competitive at all, not much to say.
“I’ll get a day of community service if I swear so let’s leave it there!”
F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Sergio Perez out in Q2!
While one Red Bull impresses, the other one falters - Perez is out in P13!
Bottom-five and out in Q2 (11-15): Albon, Colapinto, Perez, Magnussen, Ocon
Very impressive from Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hulkenberg, who make the top-10!
