From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 2025 F1 season starts on 16 March in Australia and preparations are already well underway ahead of the new campaign.

Anticipation is high ahead of Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari after his 12-year stint at Mercedes ended in December. Yet Hamilton is not the only driver with a new seat: only two teams have kept the same driver line-up from the start of 2024.

There are also six rookie drivers who have a full-time seat for the first time: Red Bull’s Liam Lawson, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, Alpine’s Jack Doohan, Haas’ Ollie Bearman, Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar and Sauber’s Gabriel Bortoleto.

Pre-season testing takes place on 26-28 February in Bahrain, with a launch event involving all 10 teams - F1 75 Live - to celebrate the sport’s 75th anniversary taking place at the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday 18 February. Yet some teams are still planning to host their own launch event as per usual.
