Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Through the 1990s I was scared to go to Ibiza. I thought it would be loutish, like Essex on a Saturday night. Then when I went there three years ago – woah. I fell in love with this amazing, spiritual, free place. I've been back about 10 times and now I'm making a documentary film about it. It draws people in. You go there to clear yourself or unlock something deep within. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, it attracted people escaping fascism and capitalism. Somewhere to go to be free.
Magical things happen on that island. You can go from chichi champagne at Pascha, to the bongo beat of a hippie full moon party in the mountains, or a yoga retreat on a cliff-top plateau overlooking the sea. My favourite club? EC10. It's a lunatic asylum. It's only open Monday afternoons and a lot of people dress like clowns. Amazing.
Partition, starring Jimi Mistry, is in cinemas now. The DVD is out on 24 November.
