Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Everyday elegance sums up my style. If you're busy you need to be comfortable, which is the key to my designs too. I wear a lot of my own Cape-wrap dresses in leopard-print or bold graphic patterns.
I don't wear anything just because it's trendy; I wear what suits me and is timeless. My Havaiana flip-flops aren't exactly elegant but they come with me everywhere because they are so easy to wear (www.havaianas.com).
Other designers I love are Giambattista Valli (www.giambattistavalli.com) and Corto Moltedo (www.corto.com); Corto is one of my best friends so I am biased, but I love his style and have several of his beautiful bags. Phillip Lim is definitely one to watch (www.31philliplim.com). He really knows how to dress women. BioDerma Créaline H2O is a great facial cleanser (www.bioderma.com) and Kiehl's Crème de Corps is another favourite that I never leave home without (www.kiehls.com).
Shu Uemura concealer (www.shuuemura.com), YSL Touche éclat (www.touche-eclat.com, above) and Lancôme mascara (www.lancome.co.uk, left) are all staples in my make-up bag and perfect for post-flight touch-ups. Haemorrhoid cream is my top tip for soothing under-eye bags, though this isn't recommended so a big pair of sunglasses might be a better idea to hide puffy eyes and blemishes.
Coco Chanel (right) has always been my inspiration – I'm a fan of simple Parisian chic and my favourite spot for style-spotting in the city is Le Meurice, a beautiful hotel full of beautiful people (www.lemeurice.com).
