If you’re one of Kemi Telford’s 60,000 plus (and counting) Instagram followers, you’ll undoubtedly recognise the smiling face of its founder, Yvonne, from the grid.

The fashion brand, known for bringing bright colours and bold prints inspired by Yvonne’s Nigerian heritage to our everyday wardrobes, has built a reputation for creating the type of clothing that lifts your mood as soon as you slip it on.

Already a cult hit among fashion editors and social media stars alike, now these pieces are set to become more accessible than ever, as Kemi Telford has teamed up with John Lewis to launch a capsule collection of signature garments that channel the line’s signature fun, fabulous feel.

To mark the launch of the edit, we’ve asked Yvonne – a woman who we know from her designs has truly impeccable taste – to share a few of her favourite products that you won’t find hanging from the rails; the little gamechangers she loves that make each day running a business and her home that little bit easier.

From steam mops to Adidas superstars, here are the buys she rates above all others.

My most-worn wardrobe investment: Adidas superstar shoes

You can’t go wrong with a pair of Adidas trainers – they’re my ultimate go-to footwear. They’re really versatile and look great with any outfit, plus they have an amazing cost-per-wear – my pair, which I’ve had for over four years, still looks new and in great shape.

The one product I use every day without fail: The Groovy Food Company coconut oil

The Groovy Food Company coconut oil indybest.jpeg

My daughters and I use this nourishing natural beauty product on our skin and our hair, but it also has a place in the kitchen, as we cook many of our meals with it – it really is a staple in our household. It’s affordable and the smell is heaven, whether we’re using it for our beauty routine or preparing food.

My WFH essential: Sony MDR-ZX110AP on-ear headphones

Sony headphones indybest.jpeg

This is the headset you will catch me with when I am having video meetings – they are brilliant as they have a mic and are noise cancelling, and they look great too. When I’m not working from home, I take them out and about with me too – they’re great value for under £20.

The luxury item I think is worth the money: Wattbike atom

Wattbike atom indybest.jpeg

I call this smart bike my challenger – it challenges me physically and mentally when the workouts get tough! I bought it for my home gym during the first lockdown and it’s been a regular feature in my day ever since. I’m not signed up to a gym membership elsewhere, so for me, it’s worth the investment.

My secret beauty bargain: Evolve Organic Beauty tropical blossom body butter

Evolve organic beauty tropical blossom body butter indybest.jpeg

This is the best body butter I’ve found for sealing the skin, stopping it from losing more moisture and restoring it to its original state. For my skin it’s been nothing short of a miracle, and the coconut and hibiscus scent makes it a joy to apply.

The book I recommend to everyone: ‘What I Know for Sure' by Oprah Winfrey

What I Know for Sure' by Oprah Winfrey indybest.jpeg

I love Oprah Winfrey, and have bought this book, where she shares her valuable life lessons, for so many people. It’s filled with wisdom that has changed my life, and doesn’t just stay on the shelf after the first read – I often revisit my favourite pages.

The boring purchase that made a chore easier: Vileda steam mop

Vileda steam mop indybest.jpeg

My floor at home is mostly tiled, and this Vileda steam mop makes mopping really easy for me. It couldn’t be simpler to use – just fill it up with water, plug it into a socket, and mop away. Within minutes,  my tiled floor is fabulously clean again.

The kitchen gadget I couldn’t live without: Ninja foodi health grill and air fryer

Ninja foodi health grill and air fryer indybest.jpeg

This grill and air fryer combo is a game-changer for my cooking – when I am making a meal just for myself, I use this instead of instead of turning on the oven of my ginormous Rangemaster cooker. The food looks great and tastes just as good, and I save a bit of energy too. Win win!
