Following the viral Handforth parish council meeting, Jackie Weaver the meeting clerk is now being heralded as a feminist icon for her diplomatic and calm approach while other attendees shouted at her.
For the uninitiated, the parish council meeting that took place via Zoom on 10 December has become an unexpected viral sensation after chaos ensued during the call.
Normally a harmless affair, parish council meetings discuss community matters, such as local playgrounds and planning permissions, but the infamous Zoom meeting started badly, with one councillor swearing under his breath while Weaver tried to address the agenda.
Things only went downhill as councillors and villagers alike insulted one another. Weaver was brought in to help following accusations of poor behaviour during Handforth's previous parish council meetings.
Weaver removed Brian Tolver, the chair, from the meeting, after he refused to recognise the legitimacy of the call and told Weaver to stop talking, before shouting: "You have no authority here, Jackie Weaver!"
What ensued was a barrage of bickering and offensive language towards Weaver.
But, owing to her no-nonsense approach and ability to remain level-headed when faced with the belittling behaviour, she has become somewhat of a national treasure.
As such, in celebration of this new-found hero, merchandise and even sponge cakes have been made in her honour.
If you're as obsessed with the Handforth parish council meeting memes as we are, you've come to the right place. We've scoured the web to create a selection of our favourite merch.
Think mugs that will encourage you to channel your inner Weaver, and T-shirts that remind you who's really got the authority. We've got it all.
You can trust our independent round-ups. We may earn commission from some of the retailers, but we never allow this to influence selections, which are formed from real-world testing and expert advice. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.
Handforth Parish Jackie Weaver the authority logo tee
What better way to celebrate your new-found hero than with a T-shirt with her face on? Despite being told she had no authority, in our opinion, Weaver is one powerful woman. Coming in white and black, we'd size up and incorporate this into our much-loved loungewear collection.
We think we've just found the latest addition to our wardrobes. This sweatshirt will work to reinforce your authority during any Zoom call. Available in white, pink, light grey and dark grey, we'd size up for a more oversized, baggy fit.
Have you found yourself on a Zoom call with a group of friends or family members where someone has proved particularly testing? You're not alone. But, if you've been unsure what to do about it in the past, we urge you to have this mug on hand to remind yourself exactly what Jackie Weaver would do.
Punch Drunk London please refer to me as Britney Spears from now on T-shirt
During the Handforth parish council meeting, chairman Brian Tover labelled himself as clerk, to which Weaver responded, in a calm and collected manner: "There is no way of stopping him from calling himself clerk. Please refer to me as Britney Spears from now on." We think there's no better way to channel your inner Weaver (or Spears) than by donning this tee, which comes in five colourways: pink, blue, black or white with orange text, and white with black text.
