From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been inspiring our style choices ever since she joined the royal family.

So much so that many of the items found in her wardrobe sell out within hours of her wearing them, in a phenomenon dubbed the “Kate effect”.

While the duchess is known for her love of high street buys, like this baby blue cardigan from Boden, she also supports luxury designers, meaning much of her sartorial arsenal is, sadly, a touch more unattainable.

A perfect case in point is a pair of earrings that have been worn by the royal on multiple occasions, including to a school’s Christmas party in 2015 and The King’s Cup sailing regatta in 2019.

Designed by British fine jewellery brand Kiki McDonough – which also designed pieces for Princess Diana – the Lauren mini leaf earrings are made from 18ct yellow gold and feature an elegant heart-shaped drop design covered in pave diamonds.

But because they’re made from such fancy materials, they don’t come cheap – a pair will set you back a whopping £2,300.

The good news is that Kate’s fashion choices also regularly inspire more affordable brands to create dupes of her most popular pieces, so you don’t have to miss out.

If you want to get your hands on a pair of royally-approved gems but don’t have a spare few thousand, look no further than Amazon, where you will find an incredible dupe of the diamond sparklers for just £15.99. Here’s everything you need to know about the bargain buy.

If you were hoping to add Kate’s earrings to your jewellery box, you’re in luck because we’ve hunted down this similar pair that will cost you a fraction of the price.

The huggie hoop earrings are made from high-quality, eco-friendly brass which has been plated with 14ct gold and finished with a special anti-tarnish coating to preserve their lustre and shine.

Each earring is also finished with a pretty drop charm in the shape of a heart – just like the duchess’s pair – which is adorned with a scattering of cubic zirconias.

If you’re not a fan of the heart shape, there are plenty of other designs to choose from including a cross, star and crescent moon.

The earrings have received more than 300 five-star reviews from satisfied shoppers, with many praising them for appearing more expensive than they really are. “I was surprised at how pretty they are for the cost, I have had several compliments about how nice they are and they are comfortable to wear,” wrote one customer.

The best part? If you sign up to Prime, you will be eligible for unlimited free delivery, meaning you get the option for your new pair of earrings to arrive on the same day or the next day.
