From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s officially Ugg season, as the cold weather is an ideal excuse to embrace cosy footwear. With last autumn and winter being all about the Tasman style, we spotted influencers and celebs such as Gigi Hadid sporting the slipper-mule hybrid. This sought-after status was further highlighted by the Tasman slippers repeatedly going in and out of stock.

So, our interest was piqued when Blake Lively was spotted strolling down a New York street yesterday in a pair of limited-edition platform Tasman slippers (£230, Ugg.com) that are part of a collaboration with designer brand Opening Ceremony. Taylor Swift’s BFF Lively is known for serving up fashion inspiration, and we tend to take note when spotting her latest look.

While this pair of Uggs may set you back more than £200, the shoes do have leather uppers and a chic metal buckle, and there are sizes still available to shop in both the chestnut and white colourways, so you can copy Lively’s exact footwear style.

Alternatively, you can get your hands on a pair of more affordable classic Tasman or tazz platform slippers, in a selection of shades and styles. In keeping with last year’s Tasman-mania, some of those options are selling out, so we’d recommend acting quick to avoid disappointment.

Keep reading to find out more about the Ugg Tasman and tazz platform picks on our wish list right now.

Ugg x Opening Ceremony Tasman, all genders: £230, Ugg.com

(Ugg)

These Ugg x Opening Ceremony Tasman slippers are designed for all genders. The footwear is available in white and chestnut, with Lively seen wearing the latter shade. They showcase an almost identical shape to the Tasman platform style, with the slip-on design and chunky soles, but this pair look more like an actual shoe than a slipper. The snug lining features 60 per cent upcycled wool, and there’s a contrasting black outsole made with an ingredient derived from sugarcane. In case you’re wondering, the platform height is 2in, and we think the pièce de résistance is the chic metal buckle. Should you be looking to splurge on an A-lister-approved designer shoe that ticks AW23 style boxes, this pair covers all fashion bases.

Ugg women’s tazz: £105, Ugg.com

(Ugg)

A suede-finish take on the leather Tasman slippers, this tazz shoe features a 1.5in platform, 80 per cent upcycled wool lining, and signature braid detailing. There are only a couple of sizes left across the tan and black options, with more variety available in brown. This slip-on style could be worn at home or out and about, whether you’re wearing jeans, joggers or something smarter. Meanwhile, the platform elevates the footwear’s fashion credentials even further.

Ugg women’s Tasman slipper: £100, Ugg.com

(Ugg)

Just like last year, Ugg’s Tasman slippers are selling out rapidly and only a few sizes are left on the brand’s website. The style is the same as the platform tazz pick but without the outer sole height. These cosy clogs come in a variety of colours, including sand, black, chestnut, lilac and bright pink, with the latter having the most size availability right now.

Ugg women’s tazz braid: £130, Ugg.com

(Ugg)

A fluffier option for an ultra-cosy outfit, this is a brand-new offering from Ugg. You can choose between black, natural and hardwood shades, and the platform footwear features a 1.5in sole and a fleecy sheepskin upper. We reckon these snuggly mules will help you slide into the chillier months in style, whether you wear them indoors or outside.
