Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Whether you celebrate Easter for its religious sentiments or you simply enjoy the long weekend, after such a difficult year, many of us are looking forward to having something to get excited about.

With the past year tainted by curtailments, and the current lockdown rules stipulating restaurants must remain closed in England, why not mark the occasion from 2-5 April by treating you and your loved ones to some seriously delicious food at home.

Whether you’re partial to a novelty Easter egg, are looking to treat yourself (or a friend) to one of M&S’s hampers or gift bags or want to create your very own DIY Easter cottage made from Dairy Milk and Mini Eggs, there’s plenty on offer.

And there are still ways to make dining in the new dining out – be that through DIY meal kits, fine-dining takeaways or a dine-in deal to rival a roast dinner at the pub.

Luckily, M&S has stepped up to the challenge once again. Following the success of its ever-popular dine-in deals (including that love sausage on Valentine’s Day), it has announced it’s bringing back it’s Easter meal deal.

Costing just £20, the brand claims that there’s plenty of food to feed a family of four, including a delicious dessert. With everything pre-prepared, no one will have to take on any arduous cooking responsibilities, making celebrations just that little bit easier. Really all you need to think about is what wine you’re going to pair it with.

Make it a real celebration by adding some Easter decorations to your home and treat the whole family (or four-person household) to a fuss-free feast.

M&S Easter family dine in: £20, Marksandspencer.com – in-store from 31 March

(Marks & Spencer)

Availability: Wednesday 31 March to Monday 5 April

What’s included: Main, three sides, dessert

This is not just Easter food, this is M&S’s new Easter dine-in deal. And as the OG founders of the “dine in for £10” craze, it should come as no surprise that this year’s offering is as good as ever.

There’s an extensive menu on offer, with the choice of a fully vegan version too. Serving four, there are six roasting joints to choose from – roast lamb, chicken, beef, pork, salmon or a Plant Kitchen vegan chickenless joint.

Serve with any three sides of your choice from mashed potato, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, honey and orange-glazed carrots or cauliflower cheese. And the goodness doesn’t stop there.

Finish it all off with a sweet treat, with the option of five puddings – while we’d choose sticky toffee pudding, there’s also vegan raspberry jelly terrine, trifle, apple pie or vanilla cheesecake.

While the deal is available exclusively in-store between 31 March and 5 April, you can purchase a family dine-in e-gift card (from £10, Marksandspencer.com) should you want to treat a friend or loved one to the perfect Easter dining experience from afar. This can also be redeemed against the dine in for £10 deal.

But that’s not all – M&S has launched a cracking range of sweet treats in time for Easter weekend, including a family hamper (£50, Marksandspencer.com) and a Percy Pig gift bag (£30, Marksandspencer.com), while Colin the Caterpillar has even been given a springtime update (£30, Marksandspencer.com).

Available in-store from 31 March
