Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In December 2020, it was announced that British department store Debenhams is set to close permanently after 242 years of trading, having been in administration since April of the same year.

The struggling retailer had already cut approximately 6,500 jobs as the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent months-long lockdown dealt a devastating blow to the high street, for businesses big and small alike.

Before it closes its doors for the final time on 15 May 2021, Debenhams will be reopening 97 of its high street stores in England and Wales on 12 April, when lockdown restrictions will be lifted on all non-essential shops (you can find the full list here). Its 15 Scottish stores and the flagship on London’s Oxford Street will not be reopening.

As the retailer prepares to leave the high street permanently, it is offering a huge closing-down sale, with up to 70 per cent off clothing, electricals, kids, beauty and fragrance.

However, there won’t be only big bargains to shop in-store: Debenhams has already kicked off its sale online, and we’ve handpicked the best deals to get your hands on while stocks last.

Currently, for any items bought online, its 14-day return policy still stands, and full details can be found on the retailer’s website. From furniture to fashion, there are some deals just too good to miss, so don’t get left behind and hope our sale guide.
