Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Myprotein Black Friday sale is live, with significant savings to be made on protein powders, gym clothes, resistance bands, vitamins and more.

The supplement giant has slashed prices across its website by up to 80 per cent. Most days, there is also a limited-time deal which knocks a popular product down to pocket money prices, so it’s worth checking back regularly to see what’s new (case in point: last week 1,000 lucky customers had the chance to snap up 1kg of impact whey protein for just £1).

But this slew of savings doesn’t mean you should get trigger happy with the “add to basket” button. After all, shopping in a sale should save you money in the long run, not batter your bank account with impulse purchases.

Luckily, I’m here to help you shop smart. As an avid gym-goer, I’ve been using Myprotein for a decade to fuel my training and help me build muscle on a budget. I’ve tried a wide variety of the brand’s products, and found there a few items I keep coming back to.

I trawled the Myprotein Black Friday sale for items I trust, which are currently available for a fraction of their usual price. Whether you’re looking to stock up on creatine, revive your dwindling supplement stores or fill your gym bag with accessories such as lifting straps and a dip belt, there’ll be a deal for you. So scroll on for some savvy Black Friday shopping.

The best Myprotein Black Friday deals

Myprotein impact whey protein 1kg: Was £41.99, now £21.49, Myprotein.com

Myprotein impact whey protein powder
Myprotein impact whey protein powder (Myprotein)

I’ve been using Myprotein’s impact whey for years. It’s cheap and tasty with plenty of flavour options (37, at last count), and I’ve never had any problems digesting it, which can’t be said for all protein powders I’ve tried. It also contains roughly 23g of protein per serving, with this figure varying slightly depending on the flavour you choose. And, with a 33-serving pouch now costing a little over 20 quid, it’s great value, too.

Myprotein essential whey protein 1.3kg: Was £34.99, now £15.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein essential whey protein
Myprotein essential whey protein (Myprotein)

Myprotein’s essential whey is a newcomer to its supplement range, introduced with the modus operandi of making protein supplements more affordable for the masses. It sticks to the Neapolitan ice cream flavour options of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and unflavoured, and has a slightly lower protein total than the impact whey (18g per scoop). But each pouch contains an impressive 52 servings, setting you up for almost two months of daily shakes for less than £16 with the current discount.

Myprotein impact vegan protein 1kg: Was £30.99, now £13.63, Myprotein.com

Myprotein impact vegan protein
Myprotein impact vegan protein (Myprotein)

If you’re after a plant-based way to hit your daily protein goal, look no further than the Myvegan impact vegan protein powder. It provides 124 calories and an impressive 24g of protein per serving via a blend of pea and fava bean proteins, delivering a complete amino acid profile. And it’s now down to less than half price, thanks to a chunky discount.

Myprotein impact creatine 500g: Was £29.99, now £15.88, Myprotein.com

Myprotein creatine monohydrate
Myprotein creatine monohydrate (Myprotein)

Creatine is a non-negotiable for me. I use it daily to support my performance, helping me make consistent strength and fitness gains. Myprotein’s flavoured creatine is a personal favourite, providing a refreshing post-workout drink, and it’s now offered with a decent discount. The 500g bag works out slightly cheaper per scoop than smaller pouches, and contains 166 servings so you won’t have to replace it in a hurry.

Myprotein crispy protein wafer 10-pack: Was £24.99, now £11.97, Myprotein.com

Myprotein crispy protein wafer
Myprotein crispy protein wafer (Myprotein)

Of the many Myprotein bars I’ve tried, these wafers are my top pick, with the crispy texture providing a welcome change from the jaw-breaking chewiness of some rivals. With 15g of protein per bar, I find they’re especially handy to have on busy days when I’m on the go. And because they’re down to £12 for 10 in the Myprotein Black Friday sale, the price works out at just over £1 per bar – much cheaper than most equivalents I’ve picked up on my travels.

Myprotein clear whey protein powder: Was £36.99, now £21.26, Myprotein.com

Myprotein clear whey protein powder
Myprotein clear whey protein powder (Myprotein)

If thick, creamy shakes aren’t your bag, clear whey is the way to go. I’ve found it’s particularly appealing in the summer, when a milky drink is the last thing you want after a hot and sweaty training session. You can currently save £15 on a 20-serving tub, although judging by what I’ve seen in previous years (including a penny sale on this very product), I’d be tempted to wait and see what further Black Friday discounts lie in store.

Myprotein Vimto clear whey protein 20 servings: Was £36.99, now £24.60, Myprotein.com

Myprotein clear whey protein - Vimto
Myprotein clear whey protein - Vimto (Myprotein)

Yes, this clear whey protein costs a couple of quid more than the offer above despite being a nigh-on identical product, nutritionally. There are 20 servings per tub, 20g of protein per serving and less than 90 calories in each drink you make. But it does taste of Vimto, which is a significant bonus for fans of the fizzy drink. So, if you’re after a sweet treat which can help, not hinder, your fitness efforts, the current £12 saving could be worth capitalising on.

Myvegan clear vegan protein 20 servings: Was £27.99, now £13.38, Myprotein.com

Myvegan clear vegan protein 20 servings
Myvegan clear vegan protein 20 servings (Myprotein)

There’s a cut-price tub of clear protein for plant-based exercisers, too. This Myvegan alternative offers the same drinkable texture and refreshingly fruity taste as its whey counterpart. However, it does have a few less flavours to choose from and half the amount of protein per serving. Still, if you’re after an easy protein boost, it’s a delicious way to do it, and you can always add an extra scoop to your shaker if you want a bigger protein hit.

Myprotein impact whey gainer 2.5kg: Was £54.99, now £24.70, Myprotein.com

Myprotein impact weight gainer
Myprotein impact weight gainer (Myprotein)

This gainer shake hit the sweet spot for me when I raised my training volume recently. It provided the extra carbs (52g), calories (412) and protein (29g) I needed to support my increased activity levels, without going overboard – some mass gainers contain upwards of 1,000 calories per serving, which was more than I was after. With 100g serving sizes, I’ve found the 1kg pouch runs out too quickly to be practical, but the 2.5kg bag usually serves me well, especially when it’s on sale.

Myprotein get stronger bundle: Was £53.98, now £28.77, Myprotein.com

Myprotein get stronger bundle
Myprotein get stronger bundle (Myprotein)

If you can’t be bothered to curate a monthly supplement stack, this bundle does it for you, and serves up a tasty £25 saving in the process. The whey and creatine pouches each contain 33 servings, and you’ll also snag access to Myprotein’s online “get stronger guide” alongside a fresh shaker (because let’s be honest, your existing one could probably do with replacing).

Myprotein protein pancake mix: Was £7.99, now £4.32, Myprotein.com

Myprotein protein pancake mix
Myprotein protein pancake mix (Myprotein)

It might be sacrilege to say this as a fitness writer, but I sometimes find oats a bit boring. Yes, they’re a fantastic way to start the day, but there are times when I want a slightly more exciting breakfast. That’s where protein pancakes serve a purpose, either from a recipe or, if I’m really short on time, a packet. This Myprotein pancake mix takes minutes to make, contains 34g of protein per serving and satisfies my occasional sweet tooth to boot.

Myprotein Pro Hyrox the electro: Was £19.99, now £13.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein Pro Hyrox the electro
Myprotein Pro Hyrox the electro (Myprotein)

I ran my first Hyrox race recently, and without occasional cups of this liquid gem (which were handed out between each one-kilometre run) I’m not sure I would have made the finish line. If you’re doing any sort of long and sweaty exercise, this helpful blend is packed with electrolytes like sodum, potassium and magnesium to help keep you performing at your best for longer.

Myprotein plastic shaker: Was £5, now £3.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein plastic shaker
Myprotein plastic shaker (Myprotein)

Shakers have a horrible habit of becoming very smelly, very quickly (this has nothing to do with you leaving them to fester at the bottom of your gym bag, of course). If you’re in dire need of a new one, Myprotein’s latest shaker deal drops its standard plastic option down to less than £4. An absolute steal for this gym essential.

Myvitamins vitamin B12: Was £5.99, now £2.56, Myprotein.com

Myvitamins vitamin B12
Myvitamins vitamin B12 (Myprotein)

An essential nutrient, Vitamin B12 helps the body release energy from food. It can be found in meat, fish, eggs and dairy products, but those following a vegetarian or plant-based diet may struggle to consume adequate levels (2.4 mcg per day is a general recommendation for adults), potentially leading to fatigue. This vitamin can help make up the deficit, and it now has almost 50 per cent off.

Myvitamins vegan Omega-3, 90 softgels: Was £25.99, now £10.24, Myprotein.com

Myvitamins vegan omega 3
Myvitamins vegan omega 3 (Myprotein)

Omega-3 fatty acids support brain health and play a role in the function of all organ systems in the body, health expert Professor Peter Calder told The Independent in our guide to the best omega 3 supplements. They’re commonly found in fish, with fish oil providing the contents for most Omega-3 capsules, but this Myvitamins option uses algae oil instead to offer a vegan-friendly alternative. It’s currently better than half-price too, so you can buy 90 softgels for just over a tenner.

Myprotein sleep capsules: Was £19.99, now £9.56, Myprotein.com

Myprotein sleep capsules
Myprotein sleep capsules (Myprotein)

This new Myprotein product is a recent addition to my routine after a colleague suggested a pre-sleep magnesium supplement. What’s followed has been a series of unbroken slumbers, helping me feel that little bit more awake during my morning workouts. As a new product, you’d expect this tub of 30 servings to stay at full price for a while, but Myprotein has knocked £10 off as we approach Black Friday.

Myprotein sparkling energy drink 6-pack: Was £13.49, now £9.71, Myprotein.com

Myvegan sparkling energy drink
Myvegan sparkling energy drink (Myprotein)

I’m not much of an energy drink fan; the 150mg-plus of caffeine and unrecognisable flavours in your average can usually cause my energy levels to crash later in the day. But for a little lift around a morning workout, an occasional can of this Myprotein sparkling energy drink has treated me better than most I’ve tried. It has a lower 83mg caffeine total, draws its flavour from fruit juice and comes with a bonus 6g of plant-based protein.

Myprotein wooden gymnastic rings: Was £40, now £27.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein wooden gymnastic rings
Myprotein wooden gymnastic rings (Myprotein)

Beyond a barbell and bumper plates, gymnastic rings are my favourite training tool. Used cleverly, they can replace an entire gym for less than £50 – something I found during the Covid lockdowns, when I exclusively used gymnastic rings to maintain my strength levels. This set from Myprotein is a solid option, as I personally prefer the look and feel of wooden rings over plastic alternatives. Thanks to the brand’s Black Friday sale, you can now get your hands on the rings for less than £30.

Myprotein resistance band (11-36kg): Was £12, now £8.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein resistance band, 11-36kg
Myprotein resistance band, 11-36kg (Myprotein)

After a pair of trunks and copious amounts of suncream, a resistance band is the first thing in my suitcase when I go on holiday. I also previously tried swapping the gym for resistance bands for a week, with surprisingly impressive results. My love for these training tools stems from their compact size and versatility, with a single band allowing me to perform myriad muscle-building and mobility-boosting moves. It can also add extra resistance to bodyweight exercises like press-ups and squats, and provide a helping hand for beginners looking to learn the pull-up – simply clove hitch one end around a pull-up bar, loop the other around your food, and the band will take some of your bodyweight).

Myprotein booty band bundle: Was £30, now £20.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein booty band bundle
Myprotein booty band bundle (Myprotein)

The name “booty band” can put some people off these mini resistance bands, but I firmly believe every gym-goer should own a set. They’re fantastic for exercises like clam shells and monster walks, hitting frequently overlooked musles around the hips like the adductors and abductors (on the inside and outside of your thighs, respectively) as well as the gluteus medius (on the outsides of your bum). Strengthening these areas will improve your performance in compound lifts like the squat, and help you build a more balanced, robust body.

Myprotein nylon dipping belt: Was £24, now £16.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein nylon dipping belt
Myprotein nylon dipping belt (Myprotein)

Very few moves feel as downright badass as a weighted pull-up, chin-up or dip. Happily, very few moves are as effective at building strength and muscle too. If you fancy amping up these bodyweight exercises by hanging heavy weights from your waist, a dip belt is what you need. This nylon option from Myprotein is lightweight and practical, stashing more easily into a gym bag than the leather alternative, but it will still let you load several plates onto its robust chain. And, thanks to a recent discount, you can now nab one for less £20.

Myprotein deluxe skipping rope: Was £20, now £13.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein deluxe skipping rope
Myprotein deluxe skipping rope (Myprotein)

In my eyes, using a skipping rope is one of the most underrated forms of cardio there is. It’s cheap, accessible and versatile, with a decent skipping rope only costing a few quid and easily slipping into any gym bag. You can use skipping for longer conditioning sessions, but I prefer slipping it into CrossFit-style circuit workouts to send my heart rate skywards. And if you invest in a speed rope, you can also try learning new skills like double-unders and crossovers to keep you on your toes.

Myprotein unisex training knee sleeve: Was £24, now £14.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein unisex training knee sleeve
Myprotein unisex training knee sleeve (Myprotein)

As a CrossFit fan, I’m used to seeing people drop £50-plus on a premium pair of knee sleeves. But if you just want to test the water and see if these training tools work for you, this 5mm Myprotein offering is a great place to start, especially now they’re down to £14.99 for a pair. There are fewer sizing options than pricier brands, but their 5mm thickness is versatile enough to see you through heavy lifting sessions and high-impact workouts.

Myprotein massage ball: Was £6, now £4.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein massage ball
Myprotein massage ball (Myprotein)

Foam rolling and other self-myofascial release techniques (like using a massage ball) can be controversial topics nowadays, with studies struggling to pinpoint their benefits and the reasons behind them. But, subjectively, I always like to keep a massage ball handy for times when my hip flexors are feeling a bit tight pre-workout – all it takes is a few minutes of rolling and I’m raring to go. Also, at less than £5, a massage ball is a solid stocking filler for fitness fans.

Myprotein padded lifting straps: Was £5, now £3.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein padded lifting straps
Myprotein padded lifting straps (Myprotein)

A strong addition to any gym bag, lifting straps take your grip out of the equation during exercises where you’re holding heavy weights, such as the deadlift and bent-over row. This way you can lift more weight for longer, without tired forearms forcing you to drop the barbell before the muscles in your legs and back have hit their limit. If you’re in the market for your first pair, this set from Myprotein is robust and padded for extra comfort. They may be slightly more fiddly to use than pricier figure-of-eight options, but they do offer a more secure grip and they’re less than a fiver – can’t say fairer than that.

Myprotein ab roller: Was £20, now £9.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein Ab roller
Myprotein Ab roller (Myprotein)

An ab roller provides a welcome alternative to sit-ups and crunches for strengthening your mid-body muscles. It’s more challenging than these classic moves, adds some extra variety into your training, and you can pick one up for as little as £9.99 in the Myprotein Black Friday sale. Or, if you’d rather not invest in any extra equipment, you can always try this expert-recommended at-home abs workout instead.

Myprotein flavdrops: Was £6.99, now £3.73, Myprotein.com

Myprotein flavdrops
Myprotein flavdrops (Myprotein)

These zero-calorie drops are an easy way to satisfy a sweet tooth and make protein shakes, porridge or yogurts a bit more flavourful. I snagged a bottle of the toffee-flavoured option in the now sold-out Myprotein advent calendar, and my snacks have been considerably tastier ever since. Usually just shy of £7, you can now pick a bottle up for less than a fiver.

Myprotein men’s tempo joggers: Was £42, now £18.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein men’s tempo joggers
Myprotein men’s tempo joggers (Myprotein)

I purchased a previous iteration of these joggers in 2019, and they’ve been a staple in my gym lineup ever since. The material is stretchy enough to allow me to squat and snatch without feeling restricted, and I enjoyed the slim-not-skinny fit too. Only now, after years of consistent use, am I having to look for a replacement. These Myprotein tempo joggers, down from £40 to £18.99, are at the top of my wishlist.

Myprotein men’s rest day hoodie: Was £30, now £17.99, Myprotein.com

Myprotein men’s rest day hoodie
Myprotein men’s rest day hoodie (Myprotein)

Oversized hoodies and sweatshirts have received a radical rebrand from gym rats in recent years; they’re now collectively known as “pump covers”. The idea is you wear them to the gym, crank through a few working sets to inflate your muscles, then take them off to reveal your pumped up physique. The relaxed fit of the Myprotein rest day hoodie makes it a solid contender for the role of pump cover, although, you can just wear it for lounging around the house too. Whatever purpose you want it to serve, it’s significantly cheaper in the Black Friday sale, reduced from £30 to £17.99.

When is the Myprotein Black Friday sale?

Black Friday falls on the first Friday after Thanksgiving in the US. In 2024, this means it lands on Friday 29 November, and the event lasts for four days before wrapping up on Cyber Monday (2 December). However, many retailers have realised there are no hard and fast rules around sticking to this four-day window. As a result, some (Myprotein included) also offer discounts in the run-up to, and aftermath of, the event. Despite this, the standout deals are still usually found on the day itself.

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping days of the year, and, for some, it signifies the start of the Christmas shopping season. It started in the US, but has since spread to other parts of the globe, including the UK.

It’s no longer a one-day event either: we now have the Black Friday weekend, with the four-day shopping frenzy culminating on Cyber Monday, where shoppers are encouraged to head online to find the best deals. Other retailers have extended the sales event to last even longer, with some running offers throughout the month of November and beyond.
