Thinking about Black Friday perfume deals this far in advance may seem super keen but, as a team that’s worked the sales bonanza year after year, you’d be surprised how helpful it can be to do your research well ahead of time. Whether you’re browsing Baccarat rouge or Le Labo santal 33, having an idea of which retailers stock – and therefore could potentially discount – your favourite fragrances is paramount if you’re hoping to snap up a Black Friday bargain.

The Black Friday perfume sales 2024 will be kicking off on the final Friday of November, ie the day after Thanksgiving. The reason we mention Thanksgiving – something we don’t really celebrate on this side of the Atlantic – is because our friends in the US started the Black Friday tradition, after 1950s workers began skiving off work in the aftermath of their holiday celebrations. The term was rebranded by retailers in the 1980s to loosely mark the start of the Christmas shopping rush and then, come 2010, the whole affair made its way to the UK.

Black Friday is now arguably the UK’s biggest annual sales event and you’re unlikely to see prices slashed to quite this extent in the summer or January sales. While Amazon and Next might price their items lower during their own-brand sales events (Amazon Prime Day and the Next sale, namely) for most brands – think, Boots, John Lewis and the like – Black Friday is the time they go big on bargains.

From when the perfume sales will begin to the brands and scents we expect to see discounted, here’s everything you need to know ahead of the November event. We’ve even included some offers to shop now – what more could you want?

What day will the Black Friday perfume deals start?

This year, Black Friday falls on 29 November. Most brands then continue to offer lower prices until 11.59pm on Cyber Monday (2 December), which typically marks the final day of the sale. In more recent years, we’ve seen retailers launch their sales as early as 1 November, so, we could see perfume deals starting to trickle in from that date onwards – no promises, though.

When will the early Black Friday perfume deals begin?

While we don’t yet know if there will be any early deals this year, we can already see a Chanel Black Friday landing page on John Lewis, though we’ll have to wait to see when the reductions start to roll in. Likewise, The Perfume Shop’s Black Friday page is showing reductions favourites such as Gucci gorgeous (was £68, now £63, Theperfumeshop.com) and Lancôme la vie est belle intensément (was £105, now £82.99, Theperfumeshop.com).

What Black Friday perfume reductions can we expect in 2024?

In previous years, the Black Friday fragrance deals have been quite bountiful – we’ve seen everything from Miss Dior to Marc Jacobs’ Daisy deals. This year, we’ll be eyeing up both retailers such as LOOKFANTASTIC and Selfridges as well as own-brand websites such as Chanel, Glossier and Sol de Janeiro. Here’s hoping.

How to shop Black Friday’s perfume sale

Our top tip for economical shopping while browsing your favourite scents this Black Friday? Always check the price per 100ml. Often deals on smaller vials of eau de parfum or eau de toilette can seem better but actually work out less cost-effective than their bigger counterparts (a Chloé 150ml refill, for example). On the flip side, we’ve seen travel-size perfume vaporisers reduced to lower prices per 100ml than their full-size iterations. We’ll, of course, be on hand throughout the event, sharing all of the best deals as they drop, so, be sure to check this page regularly.

Best perfume deals to shop now

Marc Jacobs Daisy eau de toilette 100ml and Daisy drops exclusive bundle: Was £125, now £93.75, Lookfantastic.com

(Marc Jacobs)

A perfume with an enormous fan base, Marc Jacobs Daisy has been on the block since 2007 and has no intention of leaving the fragrance space any time soon, lest it face the wrath of its spritzers. Reviewing the scent in our round-up of the best perfumes for women, our tester said “it combines white violet and jasmine for a flowery fragrance, berries for sweetness and sandalwood to make it seem deeper and warmer, it has a little bit of everything while still staying nice and light”. Alternatively, enjoy 20 per cent off selected full-price fragrances at LOOKFANTASTIC, with code “FRAGRANCE20”.

Issey Miyake a drop d’Issey fraiche eau de parfum: Was £82, now £65.60, Beautybay.com

(Issey Miyake)

A newer scent from Issey Miyake, this has been well received. The original drop d’Issey fragrance (£80, Lookfantastic.com) has a glut of fans, so, back in 2022, we were excited to hear the news of this lighter, less musky version. It boasts notes of rainwater, lilac, rose and cedar, keeping the latter three from its first iteration but removing the deeper vanilla and almond milk scents. With 20 per cent off, now’s the perfect time to try it.

Tom Ford beau de jour eau de parfum: Was £106, now £79.50, Spacenk.com

(Tom Ford)

A men’s fragrance, Tom Ford’s beau de jour is an earthy scent that emanates luxury. While we’ve tested a lot of the Tom Ford scents here at IndyBest, beau de jour is a relatively new addition, having joined the collection in 2020. With notes of lavender, rosemary, oak moss and amber, the scent is complex enough to wear of an evening and yet fresh and botanical for daytime wear, too. With 25 per cent off, it’s top of our Black Friday fragrance wishlist.

YSL black opium eau de parfum: Was £67, now £53.60, Lookfantastic.com

(Yves Saint Laurent)

One of the perfumes that ended up reduced in the Black Friday 2023 sales, black opium is currently reduced by 20 per cent. With top notes of pear accord and mandarin essence giving an initial floral, sweet scent, underneath, you’ll whiff warming black coffee and cedarwood, giving the fragrance a dark, fashionable twist. It should last a long time on the skin, too.

Burberry her eau de parfum: Was £68, now £54.40, Lookfantastic.com

(Burberry)

This is the scent TikTokers say will definitely have people smelling you before they see you (in the best way), and with notes of luscious jasmine with deeper musk and amber undertones, we believe them. TikTok aside, the scent is wildly popular and sleekly packaged in its minimalist pink-capped bottle. It’s neither too spicy – no overwhelming vanilla, here – nor too citrusy and makes for a perfect year-round day-to-night scent.

Maison Margiela replica discovery eau de toilette set, 3 x 10ml: Was £65, now £42.25, Sephora.co.uk

(Maison Margiela)

We’ve been fans of Maison Margiela for a long time – we even covered the brand’s first fragrance release back in 2010. Now, the replica scent library is 10 deep and, for timeless cosy nostalgia, replica’s warmer scents are our top picks. With notes of vanilla, wood and spice between the three aromas, this trio is a deep yet complex fragrance gift with a subtle sweetness that’ll see you through many a dark evening. Plus, with more than 30 per cent off it’s a no-brainer.
