Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) has developed at an explosive rate since the internet started to become popular in the early 1990s. Since that time technologies have focused on making our lives more "high-tech," easier, and more integrated.

World Green Tourism Abu Dhabi
November 22-24
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Presented by the Abu Dhabi tourism association the three day conference and exhibition is expected to attract leaders in tourism, travel and leisure industries from around the world. The conference aims to address how the country can benefit from the tourism industry while at the same time being environmentally conscious. The event is of particular interest as recent reports suggest that supply is outstripping demand in Abu Dhabi's hotel industry, with hotel occupancy rates dropping to as low as 56 percent over the first 7 months of the year. This event in Abu Dhabi is expected to be larger than the Six Senses Eco Symposium held in October this year in the Maldives, which also focused on the development of sustainable tourism.

December 2
USA, New York
The fifth installment of the Best of Year (BoY) awards by Interior Design Magazine. The winners will be decided by public vote (which closed on October 10) and honored at the IAC building in New York. This year the category "eco-products" was included in the awards. In comparison with the "eco-design" awards being presented at International CES (January 6-9, 2011) the BoY awards are smaller and attract less established companies, but they provide an insight into the grass roots aspect of environmentally conscious design.
