From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The UK currently the world leader in offshore wind technology and ranked 8 th in the world amongst users of wind power, bids to be carbon neutral by 2030 by stressing the importance of wind power.

The recent publication of the zero carbon Britain report outlines a path for carbon neutral transition by 2030. The report highlights the key role of wind technology in reducing the UK's carbon emissions. The UK is currently the world leader in offshore wind technology with more current and future projects than any other country in the world.

In addition to leading the world in wind technology, figures from the IEA Wind Energy Report 2009, rank the UK 8 th in the world amongst users of wind power. Measured by megawatts of installed capacity, the United States comes 1 st, Germany 2 nd Spain 3 rd, China and India come 3 rd and 4 th respectively, Italy 5 th one place above France and Denmark and Portugal fall below the United Kingdom in 9 th and 10 th place.

However, when compared to other alternative sources of power such as nuclear energy the UK drops to 9 th, Japan is 3 rd France is 2 nd and the United States leads the way as the country with the highest installed capacity.

The importance of wind power to the UK's carbon neutral target is a focus of the Offshore Wind Conference and Exhibition, held in Liverpool from the 29 th - 30 th of June. The conference and exhibition which examines project development and the future of offshore wind power will bring together professionals from across the sector for a series of speeches and discussions. The conference is also open to students and visitor passes for the exhibition are £79 at the event.

The UK's premier renewable energy event, Renewable UK 2010 Conference and Exhibition, takes place on November 2 nd -4 th, is expected to attract over 4000 visitors. Exhibition tickets are £59, though the event is open to the public for free on the 3 rd day.
