FBI seize firearms at Jake Paul’s house

The US Attorney’s Office won’t be pressing any charges against Jake Paul.

The YouTuber was involved in an incident at an Arizona shopping mall days after George Floyd’s murder in June 2020.

The office for the District of Arizona told TMZ that prosecutors won’t pursue any charges against the American internet star for his conduct at the Scottsdale shopping centre.

Paul came under fire after he posted videos onto his Instagram story of looters outside the Fashion Square mall in Arizona, where others were damaging the exterior of a PF Chang restaurant. In the clip, someone could be seen recognising Paul and having a photo with him.

Later in the video, Paul walked into the mall where looting was taking place.

The social media star was charged with criminal trespassing and unlawful assembly by police after being seen among vandals in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“In our continued investigation, it was confirmed that Jake Paul was in attendance and remained inside after an unlawful assembly was declared and has been charged with Criminal Trespass & Unlawful Assembly,” the Scottsdale Police Department said in a tweet at the time.

As a part of the investigation, the FBI also raided Paul’s home in August 2020 in connection to the shopping mall incident, where they confiscated a number of large firearms, including a long gun that was reportedly found leaning on a hot tub in his garden.

Paul was not home during the search, his attorney said at the time.

Paul’s counsel told The Verge on Thursday (12 August) that they “are pleased that the United States Attorney reached the conclusion that no criminal charges should be filed”.

The YouTuber rose to fame on the video-sharing app Vine, before crossing over to YouTube. He is renowned for his provocative humour and pranks.
