Rachel Ifans has been a writer and magazine editor for many years, working in publishing houses in London and Bath until 2013 when she went freelance. Since then, she has focused her writing on areas she is passionate about: travel; France; running; arts, history and culture; and women in sport. Rachel covers a wide range of travel subjects and areas but always returns to her first love: France. She spends as much time as she can there, writing about it, studying the language and tirelessly dragging her family around the country. As well as writing for The Independent, Rachel has written for Geographic Traveller, The Simple Things, Glorious Sport, Waitrose Weekend, The i and Women’s Running. And she has updated the current versions of Rough Guide to Provence and Mini Rough Guide to France. Rachel also writes a Substack newsletter, called Cartes Postales. Her postcards from France are about travel, memories, culture, society, books, films… Anything French!
