Maroosha Muzaffar is a senior reporter [Asia] at The Independent. She writes on the intersection of politics, inequality, minorities, and gender, among other things. Born and brought up in Srinagar, Kashmir, Muzaffar has worked with VICE, New York Times, the New Republic, California-based OZY Media, India Today magazine, and the Indian Express. Her work has also appeared in The Atlantic and GQ, among others. Muzaffar, a Fulbright scholar, specialises in narrative and intimate storytelling. She is also the recipient of the South Asia Journalist Association [SAJA] award. Muzaffar has previously worked as a podcaster, has contributed to a Penguin anthology and is interested in leading coverage of minorities across South Asia.
