Caolán Magee joined The Independent as Assistant Audience Editor in February 2022. Before joining The Independent Caolán studied a masters in interactive journalism at City, University of London, where he was awarded the Guild of St Brides Bursary. He is also a law, politics and international relations graduate from Queen’s University, Belfast and the University of Barcelona. His work has featured in Open Democracy, The Irish Independent, The Irish News, Tribune Magazine, CounterPunch and The London Economic where he has mainly written about Northern Irish politics, international affairs and neoliberalism. Caolán is competent in SEO, audience strategy, data analytics, adobe and has a strong interest in social media as a tool for political communication where he has featured in The Irish Times.
