Radio audience figures for the first quarter of the year show that Classic FM's adult weekly reach has risen by five per cent to 4.5 million. Radio 3 (whose audience was not affected by Classic FM's launch last September) recorded a reach of 2.7 million, a rise of eight per cent. Classic FM's figure of more than 24 million hours listened to by adults per week is double Radio 3's figure.

In the week ending 25 April, Channel 4's The Big Breakfast (1.5 million) closed the gap on a declining GMTV audience to 100,000. The Big Breakfast recovered from its previous week's audience of 1.1 million - the lowest since February and also the week that Chris Evans was on holiday.
