Whether it's serious drama, hilarious antics in the sun or the most ridiculous challenges you've ever seen, Love Island can certainly be relied on for non-stop entertainment. And to celebrate the return of everyone’s favourite sizzling summer reality show, we’re recapping some of the standout moments from the previous three series.

Here are some of our favourites.

Kady’s meltdown

This will go down in reality show history as one of the biggest tantrums ever seen on TV. When new arrival Tina Stinnes chose to split up Kady McDermott and her partner Scott Thomas, the make-up artist kicked off big style. Not only did she scream expletives at poor Tina from across a fence (yes, she even dropped the c-bomb), but was restrained by security until she calmed down. And she did the whole thing in her pants in true toddler style.

Muggy Mike

Muggy Mike Thalassitis earned his unfortunate moniker when he “mugged off” Chris Hughes by coupling up with Chris’s then girlfriend Olivia Attwood. It was just the start of his “muggy” behaviour as he was then embroiled in a cheating scandal after he left the villa with Dom Lever’s partner Jess Shears. He then returned to the villa and was “mugged off” once more when Olivia chose Chris in the recoupling. Muggy.

The proposal

Jon Clarke’s proposal to Hannah Elizabeth in the 2015 final was definitely something to send a postcard home about. He kicked off the gesture with a poem he’d written as a sign of his affection.

It went: "Love is mad, love is crazy, love makes me feel like a daisy. Love is scary, love is cool though. Loving you makes me feel like a rainbow..." Well, quite. The pair ultimately didn’t do enough to convince the viewers of their affection and lost out on the Love Island crown before splitting up three months after the show.

Olivia and Chris hit the shops

They say the villa is a bubble, but nothing proved the point quite so hilariously as Olivia and Chris’s trip to a Majorcan supermarket to gather dinner ingredients. Their grasp of Spanish was slender to say the least and led to Hughes saying “Garlicio?” repeatedly at a baffled-looking shop owner. Btw Chris, the spanish for garlic is “ajo”.

The Miss GB decrowning debacle

Zara Holland didn’t have the easiest time in villa. Her struggle to find a partner saw her self-confidence take a nosedive, and then when Alex Bowen came into the villa the pair enjoyed an intimate encounter in the hideaway. Which shouldn’t have been an issue, except for the fact that Zara was then Miss Great Britain and the competition’s organisers weren’t best pleased. The news that she had been stripped of her crown was delivered directly into the villa and caused an emotional Zara to quit the show. But if you ask us it was the pageant organisers who should have been ashamed of themselves.

The return of the ex girlfriend

Love Island has previous when it comes to sending people’s ex partners into the villa. But it all started with original 2015 contestant Jordan Ring, who got the shock of his young life when the ex he’d dumped by text days before jetting off to Majorca arrived on the island. Needless to say, his ex Jasmine was not impressed by his antics with new partner Zoe.
