Your support makes all the difference.Media powerhouse Oprah Winfrey, the most successful television talk show host in the US, and now owner of her own network, called OWN - the Oprah Winfrey Network, announced five new shows in the lineup. The upcoming channel is scheduled to launch January 1, 2011 in 80 million homes.
One of the new programs is her own series, Oprah's Next Chapter, following The Oprah Winfrey Show on CBS Television which will end September 2011, when it celebrates its 25th year.
Canadian country music singer, Shania Twain, will host a series, Why Not? With Shania Twain, a comeback for the performer with a reality-style show.
Oprah, the film producer ( Precious), theater producer ( The Color Purple) and magazine publisher ( O, Oprah magazine), stated in the press release, "My vision for OWN is to create a network that inspires our viewers and makes them want to be who they are on their best day."
Another new series is Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind, which looks at the creative process, featuring artists like director James Cameron, singer Lady Gaga and designer/director Tom Ford.
Other shows include Your Own Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star and Gayle King Live!, featuring King who is an editor at O magazine. The ten previously announced series include, In the Bedroom With Dr. Laura Berman, Kidnapped By the Kids, and The Miracle Detectives.
The announcement is part a month-long series of presentations that US television networks and satellite channels are currently offering the media and advertisers about the 2010-2011 season of new and returning programs.
