From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Netflix are launching a new interactive series which allows viewers to decide what Grylls does while out in the wilderness.
Titled You vs Wild, the series will take the presenter around the world, following him up mountains, through jungles and across deserts.
Viewers will have to make crucial decisions at key moments across the eight episodes; whether Grylls succeeds or fails each adventure is in your hands.
“I’m about to embark on one of my most epic adventures, and this time you’re going to be in charge,” Grylls says of the new series in the first trailer.
“So get packing, get ready, because every jungle, desert, mountain that I’m in, every decision is your decision. You’re going to dictate what I do.”
Netflix has previously experimented with adult-focussed interactive experiences, most notably the Black Mirror episode “Bandersnatch”.
You vs Wild reaches the streaming service on 10 April.
