Netflix announced on Twitter on Tuesday that a new season of the drama was “officially in the works”.
YOU, based on the novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, first aired on Lifetime in September 2018 before moving to Netflix later that year.
The series, which tells the story of an obsessive serial murderer named Joe Goldberg (portrayed by Badgley), rapidly became a hit on the streaming platform.
Its second season was released in December 2019, confirming the show’s success among fans.
In addition to Badgley, the second season of YOU, set in Los Angeles, stars Victoria Pedretti, Jenna Ortega, James Scully, Ambyr Childers and Carmela Zumbado.
The first season featured Elizabeth Lail as Guinevere Beck, a graduate student and aspiring writer for whom Joe developed an obsession.
