Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The first show, aired this Saturday on ITV1, will see actor Jake Canuso, comic Omid Djalili, Sugababe Jade Ewen, presenter Jenni Falconer and comedienne Helen Lederer taking to the high dive.
The second show sees entrepreneur and model Caprice, Olympic ski jumper Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, TV star Joey Essex, TV gardener Diarmuid Gavin and TV presenter Charlotte Jackson go up against each other.
And the third heat will show TV presenter Linda Barker, funny-man Dom Joly, actress Tina Malone, actress Jennifer Metcalfe and Olympic boxer Anthony Ogogo all compete for the final two places in the semi-finals.
Presented by Gabby Logan and Vernon Kay, contestants will be mentored by Daley. They will receive scores from Daley as well as co-judges Team GB Diving coach Andy Banks, comedienne Jo Brand and former Olympic diving medalist Leon Taylor before the phone lines open for viewers to pick their favourite.
At the end of the show, the contestant at the top of the leader board will go through to the semi-final whilst the next two contestants face a Splash!-off. The judges will then decide which diver was the most successful in the Splash!-off and they too will go through to the semi-final.
