Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We've all grown up since those carefree days of coming home from school and perching down on the sofa to watch the latest episode of CITV show My Parents Are Aliens - all of us, including the kids from the show.

Alex Kew - who you'll probably remember as Josh, the boy with spiky hair - looks especially different, however, as this picture taken from the 29-year-old's Twitter account shows.

Kew is now a gigging musician - If you've ever wanted to meet him, it seems The Bootlegger in High Wycombe is where such an occasion can occur.

He's also keen to let people know he still acts too.

My Parents Are Aliens ran from 1999 to 2006, airing 106 episodes in total. The CITV series originally starred Tony Gardner and Barbara Durkin as alien foster parents, Brian and Sophie Johnson. Carla Mendonça replaced Durkin from 2001.

The original child characters who end up under the aliens' care were played by Danielle McCormack (Mel Barker) and Charlotte Francis (Lucy Barker). While McCormack - now 32 - still acts and has a career as a singer-songwriter, Francis, 26, hasn't acted since she left the show in 2005.
